Overview
Yet another conundrum, this snare. It belongs to Lieven Vandeurzen in Belgium and he added it to the Mapex Drums Fan Page on Facebook in January 2022 looking for more information. Lots of responses followed but nothing concrete and it's not in any catalogue I've found...yet.
I has the oval high-tension lugs and the twin-cam strainer, which dates it (vaguely) to between the late 80s and mid 90s. By 1997 the lugs were all standard oval, and the twin-cam strainers had been replaced with Orion standards...but apart from that it's guesswork at the moment.
Anyway, regardless of the badge, it's blatently in the Black Panther family, as the Maple Deluxe snares were listed with that range until 2004, when everything went badged Black Panther.
Pretty isn't it?
