Overview
This is a prototype for the production model of Jeff Hamilton's signature "Maximum" snare, the clear difference being the staggered I lugs.
It surfaced on Reverb in June 2026 and was flagged up on Facebook (sorry to the user who flagged it - I'm trying to track you down after FB helpfully refreshed the feed!) and at the time of writing was still available here on Bentley's Drum Shop.
My first thought was that they had got the depth wrong, as the staggered lugs overlap but on the production model they are in-line. However, on closer inspection, you can see that the staggered lugs are further from the edge of the shell, so I'm assuming they found that there was enough clearance to put them in-line instead.
I've written to Bentley's to check photo permissions and to see if I can get the back story of how they came by this unique snare. The FB post mentioned that they had bought some of Russ Miller's collection which is plausible but I need to verify that.
