Overview
Another "unicorn" this one as only two of these "Black" versions of the Mayan were produced in 2014* as a part of the Mapex/Beyond Shimano collaboration. It's a "standard" Mayan shell with Shimano San changing the hardware to black chrome and 2.3mm Powerhoops rather than brushed bronze and die-cast hoops.
The provenance of these were questioned for quite a while, since these models don't show up in any catalogue or indeed on Shimano San's social media; also the sellers have asked quite a substantial sum for them. However I sent him a message and he was kind enough to confirm that they were indeed from his lab. So that clears that up once and for all!
*the shell date sticker says 06/2008 but that may be the date of the shell itself rather than when Shimano San built the two special editions.

このマヤンのブラッククロームのラグやフープはビヨンドシマノの日本のラボでアレンジしたモデルです。基本的にシェルはMapex製です。パーツを交換しただけです。
Since then I dug around and found the original blog post from Shimano San, together with more pictures. And confirmation that there were only ever 2 produced.

Mapexのマヤスネアドラムをビヨンド・シマノがアレンジ、改造したスネアです。ブラック・マヤ・スティールスネア。
シェルは1.1mm厚、ややシャープぎみにアレンジされたベアリングエッジ。人気のブラッククローム仕上げの金属パーツが良くマッチしていると思います。かなり繊細なニュアンス、表情があります。
