Overview

The Black Panther Steel is our loudest metal shell, yet it yields a wide dynamic range for soft articulation. The magnificent brightness embedded in the tonal bands makes the Black Panther Steel Snare an incredibly versatile, high-performance instrument.

The model wasn't around very long - it was released in 2004 when it replaced the ST4651D (same shell, chrome lugs and die-cast hoops) and was itself replaced in 2007 with a model without the tone control rings – the BPST4651A. As a result, and also because I think people hold onto them as they are such a good "workhorse" snare, this model and it's shallower brother are really tough to find these days.

Main photo and similar used with permission.

Other photos from Jack's Boutique on Reverb, used for reference under fair use. I have tried multiple times, over more than a year, to contact Jack, but to no avail. He has it listed as a Tama Black Panther snare, which is probably not helping his chances of getting it sold.

Jack, if you read this PLEASE get in contact - I'd far rather ask permission properly, especially as it it's not remotely a common snare!
