Overview
One of four snares produced by Shimano San as part of the Mapex Japan / Beyond Shimano collaboration in late 2013. All have 24K gold die-cast hoops and his special extra-hard maple ply construction, with differing outer plys and finishes.
This one has a flamed maple exterior ply, finished in what I'm reliably informed by my wife Tracey (who has WAY better colour vision than me) should just be called "Red". Each of the snares has a custom bearing edge, cut to suit the vibration characteristics of the shell.
Shimano San's post states that the snares are coated in either nitrocellulose lacquer or oil, but he doesn't state which is which. If I get any more information I'll update this listing.

Mapex with Beyond Shimano Collaboration Black Panther Snare drums
- シェルの全てをビヨンド・シマノが担当するコラボスネアドラムです。
- シェルはほぼ270gを基準に乾燥させたメイプルシェルを採用。
- エクステリア素材はAAA Quilted Maple, Flamed Maple, Bird's eye Mapleを基本とする。
- 塗装はニトロセルロース・ラッカーまたはオイルフィニシュを採用する。
- ベアリングエッジはシェルの持つ振動特性に合わせた角度や比率、シャープさをアレンジする。上記がコラボスネアの約束条件として１台１台 ハンドメイドしております。
