This badge appeared sometime around the turn of the millenium and continued on the standard Black Panther snare range until around 2004 when it was replaced by the oval sub-series badges. It does appear to have continued for a few more years on some snares made to match Orion kits. 

There are two versions of this badge - one with "Made in Taiwan" and a later one with "Made in China".

Sometimes these badges are mounted vertically equidistant from the rows of lugs, sometimes slightly above (in the case of the 14"x6.5" Steel / Steel Deluxe almost at the top). There doesn't seem to be any particular reason for this. It's not consistent with the Taiwanese badges but the Chinese ones seem to be mostly centered.
