This is the original Precious Metal series badge used on the Phosphor Bronze and Stainless Steel series from 1999 until around 2002ish, when it was replaced with the similarly shaped version with the Precious Metal logo on it. 

There are two versions of this badge - one with "Made in Taiwan" and a later one with "Made in China".

Sometimes these badges are mounted vertically equidistant from the rows of lugs, sometimes slightly above. There doesn't seem to be any particular reason for this.
