2009
The basic range is roughly the same as 2007/2008, but with the additional of a few special edition models;The Memphis, Chris Adler Signature, Special Edition Elm, the Thick Maple and the Mayan. Also the Deep Forest Cherry series is trimmed down to just the 14"x5.5".
These special editions only feature in the 2009 catalogues:
- The Memphis is a UK only Maple and Walnut shell with a Burl Maple outer ply
- The Chris Adler Signature was specifically stated to be available in 2009 only, although it does get replaced later by the two Warbird models. This is Mapex's first actual signature snare.
- The Thick Maple is the sole Black Panther with a sparkle finish in the catalogues up to that date.
- The Special Edition Elm is a maple shell with walnut sound rings and an elm exterior.
- The Mayan (also known as the Aztec in Europe) is one of the most iconic Black Panther snares ever made.
The last three Special Editions are rare as hen's teeth and command a relatively high price on the second-hand market.
